Jerry Harrell Bentley December 12, — July 15,  was an American academic and professor of world history. He was a founding editor of the Journal of World History since He wrote on the cultural history of early modern Europe and on cross-cultural interactions in world history.
He was one of the cited experts in Annenberg Media 's series of educational videos that are broadcast by satellite on the Annenberg Channel. Bentley was born in Birmingham, AlabamaUnited States. He attended Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tennesseeand then went on to the University of Tennessee where he obtained a bachelor's degree inand then his Masters and PhD Jerry H Bentley the University of Minnesota.
Following this he began working as an Assistant Professor at the Roberto Malone H Bentley of Hawaii in Ziegler as the book review editor. Jerry H Bentley University released a series of monographs on world history, Perspectives on Jerry H Bentley Global Pastand then became the headquarters for the Jerry H Bentley History Association. Bentley and Ziegler were also co-authors of the college-level world history textbook Traditions and Encounters which as of is in its 6th edition.

With the passing of Jerry H. Bentley on July 15,the field of world history lost one of its central figures and the historical Jrery lost a scholar who did much to broaden its scope. Jerry Bentley, who served at the University of Hawai'i throughout his academic career, died at his home in Honolulu after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Deborah Tramitz
